Biodiesel

Incobrasa is a member of the National Biodiesel Board. We are BQ-9000 and RFS certified, with an annual production capacity of 44 million gallons.

What is Biodiesel?

Biodiesel is a renewable biofuel that is clean-burning and offers a replacement or supplement to regular diesel fuel. Carbon emissions from biodiesel are 50 to 80% less than diesel fuel. It is produced from a variety of feedstocks from used cooking oil to animal fats and, as in our case, pure vegetable oil. Learn more about biodiesel here.

Our Biodiesel Product

B100 Biodiesel is a fuel consisting of 100% unblended biodiesel. B99.9 Biodiesel consists of 99.9% biodiesel, blended with 0.1% clear diesel fuel. This product is an option relevant to IRS credit incentives. Both biodiesel products meet the requirements of ASTM D 6751 and renewable identification numbers (RINs) are assigned and transferred with each product sale.

Glycerin is a crude bulk by-product of the biodiesel production process.

Production Process

Through a process called transesterification, biodiesel is synthesized in a chemical reaction involving our soybean oil, methanol and a catalyst. The result of this process is the production of biodiesel and the by-product crude glycerin. The ratio is nearly 1:1 with regards to soybean oil input versus biodiesel output.

Flexible Delivery

Our facility is equipped to load biodiesel by truck and railcar. Most of our customers lift product at our facility via their own or 3rd party trucking fleets. However, we have the flexibility to load customer owned railcars. We can also accommodate delivery via our fleet of Incobrasa railcars.
